Balances out the steroids and im guessing, the Plaquenil, because I had weird issues before with Plaquenil and this time I don't. I know they can be addictive so im careful, and I respect them, I try to skip if I can, but between anxiety from pills helping me to live better, and addicted to nerve pills, I choose all the above and lead a calm life This isn't scientific, just my sense after 15+ years of Plaquenil. As for depression, I think Plaquenil is actually a mild cortical stimulant, so people usually feel peppier because of it. BUT your elevated ferritin may be indicating an underlying inflammatory process. I just read, and this was news to me, that ferritin is an "acute phase. Dosage for Plaquenil. The adult dose of Plaquenil to suppress malaria is 400 mg on the same day each week. The pediatric weekly suppressive dosage is 5 mg/kg of body weight. The adult dose of Plaquenil to treat an acute attack of malaria is an initial dose of 800 mg followed by 400 mg in six to eight hours and 400 mg for two more days.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

I have had chronic, clinical depression my entire life which I am on meds for. The Plaquenil GREATLY effected by depression. I am no longer taking it. If you Google 'Plaquenil Depression' you will see that it has this effects on others. That's how I got to this post! Hopefully there is something else I can try to deal with my symptoms. I can only speak for myself and my personal experience. Plaquenil has helped me on many levels on many days. I think, for me, anyway, the depression and anxiety I often feel is due to the autoimmune issues/sjogrens. I have not noticed an increase in depression/anxiety since being on the plaquenil but that is just me. Plaquenil is the brand name for the prescription drug hydroxychloroquine. Plaquenil for treatment - Lyme Disease - MedHelp Plaquenil is often perceived as an anti-arthritis drug used to treat connective tissue disorders. What it does is make the body more alkaline. My doc explained that he prescribes it with Biaxin Clarithromycin-an intracellular abx because by making the body more alkaline, the Biaxin can more easily penetrate the body's cells, which makes it up to 40% more effective.
