    The crazy thing about this itching is that this is the 3rd attempt back on the plaquenil and with the 1st two tries I had no itching but different side effects that made me discontinue it.     Saturday was a week since I stopped taking Plaquenil, aka Hydroxychloroquine, per my doctor’s instructions, and I think I am going through some form of withdrawal.     Low hydroxychloroquine blood levels in patients who have had. All three were taking HCQ at a dose of two 200 mg tablets once a day total of 400 mg daily, had active inflammatory disease and had HCQ levels similar to the patients with active SLE disease activity in Costedoat-Chalumeau’s 2006 study15; these levels were below our laboratory’s therapeutic dose recommendation. Proper adherence to regularly taking their HCQ was confirmed in all three cases by verbal affirmation from the patient and confirmation by each patient’s pharmacist stating.
