    I have been getting these horrible rashes and they are not related to sun exposure. I am starting to wonder if they are related to Plaquenil.

    Mar 25, 2015 I am still fighting this allergic reaction. I just spent a few days in the hospital on IV steroids. they said that Plaquenil can take up to 50 days to clear the body. Anyone else had to deal with this? How long did it take to clear up? Any helpful tips? Also, on a facebook page some people posted pics of their Lupus rashes.     Is hydroxychloroquine Sulfate a member of the sulfa drug. These are not sulfates. Sulfate used after a drug name is just the last name of the chemical, its the sulfate salt. It has nothing to do with sulfonamides. Allergy to sulfonamide antibiotics has no relationship to allergies to hydroxychloroquine.
